Drynaria quercifolia, commonly known as oak-leaf fern, is an epiphytic fern found in the tropics. It is widely grown throughout Southeast Asia, including India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This fern is known for its distinctive stems that resemble oak leaves. Its scientific name is Drynaria quercifolia.  In our country, it is known as Tuthimpalakanal, Marayolapannal, Kottapannal, Okilapannal, Konga, Pannipacha, and Crown pannal. It is known by many names. It is used as medicine in traditional medicine and Ayurveda. It is a plant commonly found in India, Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, New Guinea and Australia. It has deeply divided pinnate leaves, but the leaves on the side of the nest resemble acorns. From it comes the name Okilapannal or Oak Leaf Fern. Drynaria quercifolia, commonly known as oak-leaf fern or basket fern, is a species of epiphytic fern in the family Polypodiaceae. Now we will see what are its characteristics, habitat and uses. The stems of this plant i.e. Drynaria quercifolia are dimorphic, meaning they come in two forms. Fertile stems are large, deeply lobed, and oak-leaf shaped, while sterile stems are short, rounded, and form a basket-like structure at the base. A characteristic feature of this plant is its hairy rhizomes. These rhizomes help the plant to stick to the bark of trees or other surfaces. Fertile stems can be up to 90 cm long. Drynaria quercifolia is an epiphyte, meaning it grows on other plants, most commonly trees, but it is not parasitic. It also grows by drawing nutrients from the air and sediments that accumulate around it.  The plant is native to tropical regions of Asia, including India, China, Southeast Asia, and parts of Australia. Keezharnelli (Phyllanthus Niruri)



Keezharnelli is a plant found in common field areas and irrigated areas but also grows in some desert areas. This plant is a member of the Phyllanthaceae family; its scientific name is Phyllanthus niruri. It is a medicinal plant with branches and green-red stems. It is also known as Kiruttar Nellie in Malayalam. Their leaves are found on both sides of the branches, away from the stem. The leaves are whitish green or dark green in color. When mature, yellow-green flowers appear beneath the leaves. It is known by many names, like Keerkanelli and Kierzhukkai Nellie. It is a plant pollinated by small insects. A flower has one male stamen and three female stamens for pollination. Pollination is possible when small insects visit these flowers. The flowers, which are pollinated in this way, appear as pods at the base of the petiole in the form of gooseberries. Each of these pods contains three seeds. This plant is called Keezhar Nelly because the seeds, like gooseberries, are found under the leaf stalk. This plant is used as a root when it is used for its medicinal properties. Keezharnelli is used medicinally for jaundice, fever, and urinary disorders. Phyllanthin and hypophyllanthin contained in Keezharnelli are the factors that reduce jaundice. Using Keezhar Nellie Oil kachi is very good for hair growth. Also, it is used as a medicine in Ayurveda for wounds and sores in the body due to its cooling properties. This medicine has been found to have no side effects. Diuretic. It also helps with digestion. But this is not so good for rheumatic patients.

Phyllanthus niruri thrives in tropical climates with high humidity. It prefers well-drained, loamy soil but can adapt to a variety of soil types, including sand and clay. The most common method of propagation is by seed, which must be sown in moist soil. The seeds are usually sown directly in the soil at the beginning of the rainy season. Frequent watering is necessary, especially during dry periods. Periodic weed control is necessary to prevent competition for nutrients. Organic fertilizers, such as compost or cow dung, can be used to enhance growth.

The whole plant is harvested when it is ripe, usually before the flowering stage begins, for optimal medicinal content, and should be dried and stored in a cool, dry place to preserve its active compounds.

Phyllanthus niruri is known for its various health benefits as it contains rich phytochemicals, including alkaloids, flavonoids, lignans, and tannins.

Life Story of Dr. Hahnemann (short)

Thursday, April 10, 1755 Meissen, a beautiful town in the heart of Saxony, Germany, was then famous for its porcelain industry, and many artisans were employed in that connection. A typical porcelain painting artist was Christian Gottfried Hahnemann. He was born as his son and made revolutionary contributions in the field of medicine, later known as the father of homeopathy. Samuel Hahnemann. Samuel Hahnemann's childhood, adolescence, and youth were not very pleasant, but he attached great importance to education. His father, Christian Gottfried Hahnemann, encouraged Samuel to continue his studies from a young age. With its rich cultural heritage and intellectual milieu, Meissen was fertile ground for Samuel Hahnemann's intellectual curiosity. Brought up in the vibrant intellectual atmosphere of the time, he acquired excellent knowledge of languages ​​and natural sciences. Also because of his linguistic aptitude and excessive enthusiasm for wisdom, at the age of ten, Hahnemann joined the local school of St. Aphra From there he gained a solid foundation in classical languages, mathematics, and the humanities. This academic prowess earned him good impression and recognition among his peers and teachers. Hahnemann's insatiable thirst for knowledge led him to continue his studies at the Prince's School in Meissen, where he mastered Latin, Greek, and many other modern European languages. This linguistic skill later proved invaluable in his translation work and scholarly career. In 1775, at the age of twenty, Hahnemann enrolled at the University of Leipzig to study medicine. With a desire to alleviate human suffering and contribute to the advancement of medical science, he joined the University of Leipzig, a center of learning and intellectual exchange known for its leading medical thinkers and cutting-edge scientific discoveries of its time. During his studies there, Hahnemann became a good student with enthusiasm, insight and a keen intellect. He developed a critical approach to learning and became disillusioned with the prevailing medical practices of the time, which relied on outdated theories and ineffective treatments.

Combined with an insatiable thirst for truth and a commitment to scientific inquiry, he had nothing else to think about, and then began a life-long journey of research, experimentation and discovery. It eventually led to the revolutionary beginning of homeopathy medicine.

His education, with an emphasis on education, culture and intellectual curiosity, laid the foundation for his groundbreaking contributions to medicine and his legacy as the founder of homeopathy.

After years of research and observations, he finally advocated the use of highly diluted herbs and discovered the fact that potentization increases the healing properties of substances and reduces the potential for harm. Despite often facing scepticism and opposition from the medical field, he continued to push forward with his theories and gain more acceptance in society. Homeopathy spread rapidly throughout Europe and beyond.

In addition to his work in homeopathy, Hahnemann also translated and annotated many classical medical texts in medical literature.

He advocated reforms in health care and medical education and was also involved in social and political activities during that time.

He showed extraordinary courage to challenge the traditional medical practices of his time and kept searching for new ways to come up with a more rational and effective approach to the existing medical treatments that depended on methods like critical bloodletting and purification.

Moreover, his dissatisfaction with the treatment methods of the time led him to abandon his medical career for a while,

Instead he sought a livelihood through translation work and writing. It was during this period that he married Johanna Henriette Kuchler.

The turning point in Hahnemann's life came in 1790 when he conducted an experiment with cinchona bark, which was commonly used at the time for malaria. Fascinated by its effects, he began systematically experimenting with various substances on himself and others, carefully recording the symptoms they produced.

 Through these experiments, he formulated the basic principle of homeopathy: "like cures like", meaning "a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms in a sick person."

In 1810, Hahnemann published his seminal work "Organon of the Rational Art of Healing" outlining the principles and practices of homeopathy.

He emphasized the importance of individualized treatment, taking into account the totality of symptoms and the unique makeup of each patient.

We need to recognize that homeopathy is one area where the power of artificial intelligence (AI) needs to be harnessed more. On this occasion of questioning the authenticity of homeopathy, if we want to be able to demolish it all, we should have the most modern technology in our hands, there should be constant researches required for it but we should realize the fact that even now there is not enough consideration. What justice have we done to that divine soul discovered by Dr. Hahnemann! If he were alive today, no one would be able to question the authenticity of Homeopathy, and it is our personal regret that there has not been another Hahnemann to take up where he left off.

Lotus plants usually grow in shallow freshwater bodies such as ponds, lakes, and swamps. Characterized by long stems that emerge from submerged rhizomes and large, circular leaves that float on the surface of the water, lotus flowers can rise above the water on tall stems, sometimes reaching several feet in height. The flowers of the lily are perhaps its most striking feature, they can be found in colors ranging from white and pink to yellow and blue, but at least some people doubt that the blue lily is real, and in my research, I have found that there is one. Yes, the blue lily, scientifically known as Nymphaea caerulea, is not an imaginary flower. Generally blue lotus is known as a sacred flower. Although it is found in various parts of Africa and Southeast Asia, including Egypt, Sudan, and Thailand, it is important to note that it has historical and cultural significance in Indian religions and mythology, and is often depicted in art and literature. Throughout history, the lotus has had deep symbolic meaning in various cultures. 



In ancient Egypt, it symbolized rebirth and the passage of the sun through the sky, often depicted in art and architecture. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the lotus has deep spiritual significance, representing purity, enlightenment, and freedom from worldly desires. The image of a lotus flower emerging from muddy water, blossoming unblemished, is considered a symbol of spiritual awakening and personal growth.Beyond its symbolic importance, the lotus plant also has many practical benefits. In traditional medical systems such as Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, various parts of the lotus, including the seeds, rhizomes, and petals, are believed to have medicinal properties. They are used to treat ailments ranging from diarrhoea, fever, skin diseases and insomnia. The lotus plant or Nelumbo nucifera has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for various medicinal purposes. Lotus seeds and rhizomes are believed to have digestive properties. They are often used to treat diarrhoea, improve digestion, and relieve gastrointestinal upset. Rhizomes can be divided, usually in early spring, when the plant is not actively growing, i.e. during the dormant season. Each rhizome division should have at least one growing point or bud. After planting the divided rhizomes in pots filled with mud, water should be given only to the extent that it will submerge. The water level should be raised according to the growth of the plant, similarly when planting in ponds, it is better to plant in a shallow area. Fertilizing lily plants can help promote healthy growth and abundant blooms. For that choose a fertilizer specially formulated for aquatic plants, one with a balanced N-P-K i.e. Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium ratio. Avoid fertilizers high in phosphorus, as they can encourage excessive algae growth in the water. Lilies should be fertilized every 4 or 6 weeks during the growing season, usually from spring to early fall. Today there are many hybrids developed for various purposes including ornamental, culinary and religious uses. Some common varieties of lotus are Nelumbo nucifera, sacred lotus or Indian lotus, Nelumbo lutea, American lotus or yellow lotus, Nelumbo komarovi which is Russian Komarovi lotus, Nelumbo nucifera var All these and hybrid varieties that bloom in many colors are available in nurseries today.

Philodendron Burl Marx is a plant that grows best in bright and indirect light. Direct sunlight may cause its leaves to burn, so it is best planted in a location that receives filtered sunlight or partial shade. However, it can survive low-light conditions, but its growth is slow under such conditions. Likewise, keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Watering should only be done after the soil has dried to a depth of about an inch; overwatering can cause root rot, while too much water can cause the wilting of its leaves. The frequency of watering should be adjusted depending on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. Philodendron Burl Marx prefers a moist environment. Humidity can be increased by giving the plant partial shade or placing a humidifier nearby.

A well-drained and well-ventilated pot should be chosen for this purpose, a rich soil should be used, and a mixture of peat moss, perlite, and compost should be added to it. This mixture is very good for the plant. The plant should be reported every 1 or 2 years. Replenishment of the soil in the pot will give the growth more strength. A balanced liquid fertilizer should be added every 4 or 6 weeks during the growing season, i.e., spring and summer. This is good for better plant growth.

The frequency of fertilizing should be reduced during autumn and winter. Regular pruning helps maintain the plant's shape and encourages new branch growth. Remove dry, yellowed leaves to promote plant growth, using sterile, clean, sharp scissors to avoid damaging the plant. Watch out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. If the plant is kept indoors, wipe the leaves regularly with a damp cloth to prevent dust and discourage pests.

Treat infestations promptly with insecticide, soap, or neem oil. Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal diseases. Philodendron Burl Marks can be propagated by several methods, but the most effective method is stem cutting, for which take a 4- to 6-inch stem cutting with at least one leaf node using sterile scissors or a knife. Remove the lower leaves to expose the node. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in moist potting soil or a glass of water. This cutting should be kept in a warm and humid environment with bright and indirect light.

 After a few weeks, the new roots will grow well, and you can then transplant them into another pot or into the garden. If it has multiple stems or branches when newly planted, it can be divided during repotting. Separate its root ball into smaller sections, making sure each stem has roots. Plant each branch in a separate pot with clean soil and water. Philodendron burl marks often produce aerial roots from the stem. These roots can be carefully cut and planted in the soil to grow new plants. Make sure the aerial root has at least one leaf node before planting. Preparing the correct potting soil mixture is critical to the healthy growth of Philodendron burlmarks.

Peat moss should be added as the primary ingredient in a well-draining and nutrient-rich potting mix. Maintains moisture well while providing good ventilation. About 50% peat moss should be added to this mixture. Equally important is perlite, a lightweight volcanic rock that helps improve soil drainage and prevent soil compaction. Add about 25% perlite to the mix to ensure proper aeration and prevent waterlogging. Adding compost, organic matter, or other organic matter to it is good for plant growth. Use about 25% compost or well-rotted organic matter for this. Cocopeat is an eco-friendly alternative to peat moss. It retains moisture and provides good ventilation. If desired, a portion of the peat moss can be replaced with cocopeat. Similarly, vermicompost can be used, which is rich in nutrients and beneficial microorganisms that promote healthy root growth. Add about 5 to 10% to the mix for more fertility.

Another thing is to add pumice or vermiculite to improve soil structure and drainage, especially if perlite is not available. Lack of oxygen for plant roots can cause root rot. But this plant doesn't really need organic soil. Avoid clay and clay-like materials. It does not help retain moisture. The soil pH should be between 5.6 and 6.5. This means that the soil should be acidic or slightly acidic. Philodendron burl marks offer many health benefits. Ficus bengalensis is an evergreen, fast-growing tree that can reach up to 30 meters in height, mainly found in monsoon and rain forests. Banyan trees are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Australia. However, they are used for landscaping and shade in many parts of the world. It is drought and light frost resistant. Banyan is a tree belonging to the genus Ficus in the family Moraceae of the genus Plantae. Banyans, also called banyans, develop new branches from roots that hang down from the tops, allowing the tree to spread outwards. 




Banyan trees are striking and iconic members of the Ficus genus, known for their distinctive aerial prop roots and broad canopies. Banyan is distinguished from other trees by its habit of growing in the crevices of a host tree or building, beginning life as an epiphyte, i.e. a plant growing on another plant, and growing by destroying that plant. One of the most distinctive features of banyan trees is their aerial prop roots. These roots grow from the branches and extend into the ground and eventually develop into tree trunks. Over time, these roots can form a complex network, forming multiple trees that support the tree. Banyan often refers to Ficus bengalensis or Indian Banyan, a name originally derived from F. bengalensis, came from India, because early European traveller’s observed that Banyans, or a community of Indian traders, frequented the shade of the tree. Banyan trees are trees that provide ample shade with dense foliage. These trees are an ideal choice for creating natural shade and cooling in tropical areas. Banyan trees are known for their longevity and can live for hundreds of years. The continuous growth and development of roots contributes to their resilience and ability to withstand various environmental conditions.

It is a tree found all over India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan, Malay Archipelago, Mainland Southeast Asia, New Guinea, Australia, Ryukyu Islands, New Caledonia and can be found in many parts of the world but it is the national tree of India, however This name is used to classify all figs that share a common life cycle, and is used systematically in taxonomy to classify the subgenus Urostigma. Like other fig species, the banyan tree bears fruit in the form of a structure called a syconium. It provides shelter and food for syconium wasps of the Ficus species, and the tree's pollination depends on its fruit. Frugivorous birds also disperse banyan seeds. As such, its seeds are small, and since most banyans grow in woodlands, seedlings that fall to the ground and germinate are unlikely to survive. However, many seeds fall on the branches, trunks, or buildings of other trees, and when they germinate, their roots grow into the ground and eventually envelop part of the host tree or building. Banyan leaves are large, glossy and green in color and oval in shape. Young leaves have an attractive red color. Banyan trees are characterized by developing thick branches that are indistinguishable from Thai wood with age. Such aerial roots can sometimes be numerous. The Great Banyan of India is one of the largest trees in the world and is located in Kolkata, India. Its canopy is spread over 4.67 acres. Carefully monitored over the years, the Great Banyan of Kolkata currently has 2,880 affiliated branches.

Banyan trees hold cultural and religious significance in many societies. In Hinduism, the banyan tree is considered sacred and is often associated with the god Vishnu. In Buddhism, the Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment under the bodhi tree, a type of fig tree that includes the banyan. Banyan trees play a crucial role in the ecosystem by providing habitat and food for various species. Birds, insects and other animals often find shelter in complex branches and contribute to the biodiversity of the surrounding environment.

Banyan trees can propagate in two ways. The fruits produced by these trees contain seeds that can germinate and grow into new trees. Also, when the aerial roots touch the ground and establish contact with the soil, they develop into independent new trees.
